IPad is not supported as a home hub on the new, more reliable, and more efficient Home architecture, which is available as a separate upgrade in the Home app. Make sure you have the latest version of the Google Home app. At the top right, tap Settings Remove device Remove. At the top right, tap Settings Home choose a home tap Next choose a room tap Next. At the top right, tap SettingsRoomscroll to the bottom and tap Add a custom roomenter the room nametap Save.
The Home app displays all the devices it finds. Select the Google Nest Hub from the list then tap Next. On the Choose a Home screen, make sure your current home is selected. If not, tap Add Another Home and follow the onscreen instructions to add your home to the list.
Do more with the Home app
If you have a nearby Wi-Fi router, cordless phone, microwave, or Bluetooth speaker, move it further away if you can. Turn the bulb off and on. The bulb takes up to one minute after receiving power to reconnect to the speaker or display. Try your light and check if it works. If so, you’re done.
To complete the setup, follow the in-app steps. The 7-inch Google Nest Hub is a great device to either begin or expand a Google Home smart home setup, especially while you can still get it at a discount. Download the Nest app for Android or the Nest app for iOS to view the device history and set up advanced features such as face recognition. Your mobile device and Nest Hub must be on the same Wi-Fi network to set up your device. Since nothing on the device is connected properly at this stage, rebooting will be straightforward.

Initial checklist
During setup, or afterward when visiting Device Settingsfor your smart plug, you will see an option that says Device Type. To get started, first plug your Google Home device into an outlet. Assign your bulbs to a room
The Google Home app will walk you through the steps to set up your Google Nest or Home speaker or display. You're now prompted to use the Voice Match feature. Voice Match learns to recognize your voice and the voices of five other users, so the Hub can display personalized calendars, reminders, and the like. You can choose to use this or not, it doesn't affect your setup—and you can activate this at a later time, if you choose.
To control your devices more easily, assign them to a room in a home. You can create a new home, create a new room, or add your devices to an existing room. You can add each device to one room only.
If you're still having trouble, you might need to factory reset your display, then set it up again. The signal between your bulb and your speaker or display might not be strong enough. To increase the signal strength, move the bulb and your speaker or display closer to each other. They should be no more than 15 feet apart.
